Subject	doesn't the ECU have to "relearn" everything once installed?

Message	it would take a few miles of driving for the ECU to learn the new values of an aftermarket intake for example. wouldn't it be the same with testing numbers for ECU's as well?? i mean, isn't there an adjustment period the ECU goes through so it can optimize performance given the values of the car's components??
